His track record in the industry starts back in 1990, when he began as a trainee for Mike O'Flynn and James Caan in an MRI franchise. In his first year, Darren became the second largest biller from a network of 150 consultants, billing £350,000 gross profit on sales of IT contractors. Darren went on to bill over a million in profit from a mixture of IT contract recruitment sales and retained search/headhunting services by the third year of his career.
Working through the ranks from trainee to senior management in just 10 years, Darren exited the direct recruitment/recruitment management role he held in a City firm to become a trainer and management consultant to the UK recruitment industry. From 2000 to 2004 Darren provided training and advice to 5,000+ recruiters, whilst simultaneously working with 2,000+ recruitment owners at 1,000+ recruitment firms across the UK. During that time Darren became acknowledged as an industry expert by recruitment firms, trade bodies, industry investors and pundits alike.
Combining his love of IT and his recruitment knowledge began in 2005, when he set up his first software house. From 2005 Darren has steadily grown his reputation as one of the top thought leaders in the online/web recruitment space. Invited to give speeches in the UK and the EU, Darren is an avid LinkedIn discussion contributor and also a columnist for Recruitment International on the subject of SEO and online recruitment.
